Right to Reserve
the Cabins:
The use of the cabins is restricted to Hawaii Conference UCC ministers and
active lay members (and their families) or any church affiliated with the
conference. Priority for use of the cabins are:

Ministers and their families

Church groups
-
Active lay members and their families
Note: Regardless of advanced booking, there is a two-week preference for
any UCC minister who actively pastors a church on the island of Kauai. In
other words, a pastor can call up to two weeks prior to your reservation
and he/she will get first priority. This is a stipulation of the donor of
the original cabin.
Reservations:
Reservations are made only through the cabin coordinator, currently Helen
Hoeckmann-Percival at Waimea UCC (338-9962).
The cabins may be reserved for a maximum of one week.
Confirmation of the reservation will be given two weeks prior to the requested
date and only after full payment and the mandatory Indemnification Agreement
is received. Please note that we are not able to refund any payments if the
the cabin user defaults on the reservation in part or in full.
Those with an unpaid balance from a previous rental will not be allowed make
further reservations.
Keys will not be released until full payment and the mandatory Indemnification
Agreement is received. Keys will be picked up from and returned to Helen
Hoeckmann-Percival at the Waimea UCC on Ola Road in Waimea.
A box of assorted pots, pans, plates, cups and cooking utensils is available
for rent for $5 and should be arranged for at the time of reservation.
Upon Arrival:
Please note that pets and open campfires are not
allowed!

Take caution when stepping out of your vehicle as the grass may be slippery.

Gas, electricity and water should have been left on. In the event that the
water needs to be turned on or off, the valve for Cabin A is located at the
left-hand corner of the cabin; the valve for Cabin B is located at the base
of the entry ramp.

If renting Cabin B, turn the water heater switch ON (The switch looks like
a regular light switch and is located on the wall next to the heater. The
heater is in the closet next to the kitchen.)
Before
Leaving:

Help control rodents: Do not leave any food, bar soap, or flowers anywhere.

Clean out the wood stove, taking the ashes back out with you.

Clean all sinks, toilets, and showers. Take all soap and shampoo out.

If in Cabin B, make sure hot water heater switch is OFF.

Make sure all windows, doors, and the parking chain are securely locked.

Take all trash back out with you.

If you experience any trouble with the cabins, please report this as soon
as possible upon your return. Emergencies should be reported immediately.
An evaluation and check-out list is included with the keys. Please use it!
Other Items of
Importance:

If both cabins are occupied, please respect the privacy of the occupants
of the other cabin. Quiet time is 9pm.

Suggested check-out time is 1:00pm.

Wood-splitting tools are located in the mens restroom area. Feel free
to leave behind any unused wood for future campers.

The individual who makes the reservation shall be responsible to see that
all the rules are followed and shall be liable for any loss or damage.

There will be a $85 cleaning fee assessed if the cabins are not cleaned
thoroughly.

There is pay phone at Kokee Lodge. Cell phones do not work at Waineke.

If you inadvertently take an item that does not belong to you, please return
it to Helen Hoeckmann-Percival at Waimea UCC

Pets are not allowed

The Waineke Committee reserves the right to access and inspect the cabins
at any time and without fore-notice to renters.

Future cabin use shall be denied to individuals who do not follow the policies
and expressed rules of the Waineke Cabins.

The United Church of Christ is not responsible for loss or damage to personal
property while at Waineke.

Please remember: Waineke is a place of spiritual retreat. Let the Lord guide
you and the decisions you make while at Waineke.
