ART KAUAI 2003 October 25 - November 23, 2003 The Kauai Society of Artists held its annual juried Art Kauai 2003 exhibition from October 25 through November 23, 2003 at the Kauai Village Shopping Center, Waipouli. The juror was Rich Richardson, Assistant Director of The ARTS at Marks Garage in Honolulu. An opening reception was held Saturday, October 25, with a "walk and talk" with the juror, an announcement of the new KSA Board, and an awards ceremony. The exhibit featured 118 works by 70 Kauai artists selected from the 327 works entered by 100 artists. The exhibition showcased the wide range of creative energy and vision expressed by Kauai's artists. |

Wayne Miyata's "Daruma's Creed-Fall Seven, Rise Eight." ![]() About The Juror: Rich Richardson is the Assistant Director of The ARTS at Marks Garage, a nonprofit gallery and performance space in Honolulu, where he oversees public relations, curating, exhibition and performance programming. An avant-garde multimedia artist himself, he has been included in numerous solo and group shows. His past experience also includes private gallery owner, exhibit coordinator, and educator for Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center on Maui. He has created publicity design and installations for numerous clients. In addition he has programmed film festivals, music, poetry, and dance performances. He has both a Bachelor's Degree and Master of Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Studies from San Francisco State University, Inter-Arts Center. KSA would like to thank exhibit juror Rich Richardson, the Kauai Village Shopping Center staff and management, the generous award donors, and especially all of the dedicated volunteers who have made this exhibition possible. Art Kauai 2003 was sponsored by the Kauai Society of Artists with support through the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. The exhibit space for this year's exhibit was generously donated by the Kauai Village Shopping Center.
