About the Juror:

Scott Groeniger is a digital artist and Assistant Professor of Digital Imaging at The University of Hawaii at Manoa.

His art deals with the role of the artist in political, social, and propaganda visualization and examines environmental issues such as urban sprawl and development of the American landscape as well as the current environmental issues facing China. Groeniger has worked as a graphic designer and photographer, and recent new "drawings" are essentially a critique of the language of advertising. Groeniger appropriates images from the environment and on the street and remixes the material in order to investigate the contemporary cultural landscape. Groeniger has also created many video works examining contemporary life in China.

Recent exhibitions include: Intrude Art 366: Shanghai, China; the Zizkov International Photography Festival in Prague; The Center for Fine Art Photography, Fort Collins, Colorado; Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center, Maui; The Residence Gallery, London; The Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, The Ping Yao International Photography Festival in Shanxi, China; The International Guerrilla Video Festival in Florence, Italy; and the International Digital Media and Art Association iDEAs Exhibition in Orlando, Florida.

Groeniger will be showing recent digital works in the upcoming exhibition "The Architecture of Change: Exploring the Past Within the Present" at the Hawaii Pacific University Art Gallery May 3 through July 17. Online his work can be seen at http://elasticlimit.com/artwork.
