KSA would like to thank and congratulate all of the participating artists, juror Kelly Sueda, the hardworking KSA volunteers and board members, the generous award donors from our community, and the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. KSA also thanks Kukui Grove Shopping Center staff and management for use of the space, and the Garden Island Arts Council for display pedestals and panels.

About the juror:

Kelly Sueda (b.1972) is a painter who was born and raised in Hawaii. Described as "an architect in paint," Kelly Sueda captures both the busy and more relaxed scenes found throughout the islands. Sueda's impasto style is particularly suited for his interpretations of the ordinary and the extraordinary.

Sueda received two BFA's, one from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, and the second from the University of San Francisco. Since then, Sueda has won many awards and has had numerous shows both in Hawaii and California. His work has been featured in shows and events held in the Honolulu Academy of Arts and the Contemporary Museum of Hawaii.

Sueda's commissions and works are in numerous collections throughout Hawaii, including the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, the Bank of Hawaii, First Hawaiian Bank, Sheraton Hotels, the W Hotel, the Supreme Court of Hawaii, the Hawaii State Capitol, and Queens Hospital. He has also illustrated several books. Currently he is an Art Consultant with The Fine Art Associates in Honolulu.

Samples of Kelly Sueda's artwork can be seen at Cedar Street Galleries, Honolulu.
