E Ola Mau Na Leo O Kekaha
In the process of forming this organization, the community residents began with:

1.  A “Silent March” throughout the community in response to grafitti that appeared overnight on structures in town on July 7, 2007. Over 200 community residents walked in silent protest to present concern and to demonstrate their love and support for the town.  It was heartwarming to see entire families involved and to have people from all over the island come to join community residents in this effort.

2.  A Kekaha Community Revitalization Event was held on November 30-December 1, 2007 to bring community residents together.  With food and craft vendors and entertainment, time was focused on developing consciousness and awareness of bringing people together.  This was done through the encouragement and support of the West Kauai Watershed Council and the Garden Island Resources, Conservation, and Development,  Inc. with funding from the County of Kauai.

3.  Community residents felt it was important to “follow through” with this kind of momentum and support.  This, a steering committee was developed to plan for the revival of the 4th of July community Celebration and to form a non-profit organization:  E OLA MAU NA LEO O KEKAHA.

4.  The 4th of July Celebration is scheduled to occur on Friday, July 4, 2008.  The planned schedule of events include:
An early morning walk activity with breakfast coordinated Ho’ola. Start time: 6 am.
Festivities including entertainment/food and craft vendors/exhibits and displays/family-oriented activities/fireworks and laser light show will be held between 12 noon and 10 pm at the HP Faye Park in Kekaha.
We invite you to join us!  We welcome all residents to become active members of this organization!  We open the doors to "transplanted" Kekahans to become associate members who want to be a part of our efforts, no matter where you live!  We accept friends and supporters who have family members and/or friends here in Kekaha to be associate members as well!
Kekaha was once a striving Sugar Plantation Community that for many years has molded a "Multi-Culture" way of living which they have embraced throught out the generations.
